Thank you for your e-mail, which I received on the 6th June 2015.
Firstly, please accept our apologies for the delay in replying to your concerns, this is due to the unusually high level of customer contacts we have received recently and I assure you no discourtesy was intended.
The DRS loco hauled stock on the Cumbrian Coast, hope that is of use and also a few things below that will help.
These coaches have air conditioning fitted, which is not fitted to our other diesel units (Class 142 and 156 units), that normally operate these routes.
Also over the next 2/3 months these coaches will be fitted with toilet waste retention tanks, which will prevent any toilet effluent being disposed of on to the track, where as our current diesels that operate this route do not have any as there is no room to fit them.
Currently we have two locomotives working these services, but within the next 2 months one of these locomotives will be removed and replaced by a driver trailer vehicle, ie one that has a cab so it can be driven at that end but is not fitted with an engine, so this will reduce the noise, although the diesels that used to work this line, currently have two engines.
Also to be able to operate these coaches and locomotives, we have had to submit a safety submission to the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR) and if there were any safety issues then the ORR would not have allowed Northern to operate these services.

SFC has a friendly at Coniston Avenue playing field at 6.45pm on Thursday against Gosforth. They played yesterday, but I couldn’t get in to the website to update it!
